Michael Paul Goldenberg over at the Rational Mathematics Education blog has written an interesting post about LEARNING MATH BY THINKING - Hassler Whitney, Louis P. Benezet, and how many more wasted lives and decades will it take?

Thanks for the kind remarks. For anyone interested, there has been some recent and productive commentary on this thread, though you have to skip through a less-than-cordial post and my initial response to it by someone calling him/herself "Lefty" in order to get to the gold.
